Sadly, Methuen High School teacher and wrestling coach William “Bill” James, 57, of Salem, NH, passed away, on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at Lawrence General Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Laurie (Berryman) James, also a physical education teacher at the Marsh Grammar School, with whom he shared twenty-three years of marriage. Barbara E. Churchill, 81, of Methuen, MA, passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Boston Medical Center, with her family by her side. She was MPSRA Treasurer for several years. Mary Patrice O'Connor passed on November 30, 2023. She died at her home in Lowell, Massachusetts on November 30th. "Pat," beloved daughter of Michael and Agnes (Dunn) O'Connor was born in West Springfield, Massachusetts on March 17th, 1941. Raised in Arlington, MA., she attended local schools and obtained a BA from Framingham State University and an MA from the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. Marguerite Foley Ganem, a loving mother and proud grandmother, died surrounded by her family on October 14, 2023. In 2001, after teaching Science for 32 years, she retired from the Donald P. Timony School in Methuen Public Schools teaching math and science in grade 7. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed reading with a hot cup of tea, tole painting, spending her summers at Lake Winnipesaukee, and winters in Florida. Anne Marie (Gosselin) Tataronis passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023, after a long illness. Anne Marie was a teacher in Methuen and taught English and history in grades seven, eight, and nine. John "Jack" Anson Hough, 77, of North Andover, passed away peacefully on Saturday morning, at his home with his loving family at his side. Jack was born in Malden MA on March 18, 1946, to the late George and Elizabeth (Owen) Hough. Jack spent his entire career as an elementary teacher in both the Everett and Methuen Public School systems. Great news!!! The Methuen Public Schools Retirees Association is up and running again! The pandemic is finally at a point where we feel safe enough to gather together. As in the past we will host a breakfast brunch in September, a Christmas lunch, and a spring luncheon in June. In addition, every spring a senior from Methuen High School will be the recipient of a $1,000 scholarship. This year's recipient is Dariel Garcia. He will be attending Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, FL. Congratulations to Daniel!!
Enclosed is a membership form which you should send with your $15.00 dues as soon as possible. In August you will be receiving an information and sign-up form for the September brunch. We look forward to seeing you there.
